Media Advisory: Belfast Coast Guard and Fire Department to Host Training

BELFAST, Maine- Media are invited to attend a safety workshop Thursday for small passenger vessel operators in Maine hosted by Coast Guard Sector Northern New England and the Rockland Fire Department.

Attendees will receive classroom instruction and practical training on ship-board firefighting techniques and the operation of lifesaving equipment including life raft deployments, flare demonstrations and a live-fire trainer.

What: The emergency preparedness workshop was designed to reinforce the importance of operating safely on the water by providing hands-on experience to small passenger vessel operators.
When: 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., May 20, 2010.
Where: Belfast Armory, U.S. Route 1, Belfast, Maine.
Who: Hosted by personnel from Coast Guard Sector Northern New England and the Rockland Fire Department.
