ROCKLAND, Maine- The Coast Guard responded to a boat fire July 8, 2010, near the Rockland break water in Rockland, Maine.

Coast Guard Sector Northern New England was notified by a good Samaritan via VHF-FM channel 16 that the 16-foot Boston Whaler was on fire and had two people aboard.

Coast Guard Station Rockland launched a 25-foot rescue-boat crew and responded to the fire along with the Rockland Fire and Police Departments. The two people that were aboard the vessel were found on the break water holding the line to the vessel.

Once the fire was extinguished, the Rockland Fire Department towed the vessel and transported the people to a mooring ball where they were picked up by the Rockland Police Department and taken to shore in Rockland.

There were no injuries to the people aboard the vessel.
