Coast Guard assists disabled boat, removes passengers, crew

BOSTON — A Coast Guard crew is removing passengers and crewmembers from a 30-foot passenger vessel after it became disabled off the coast of Provincetown, Mass., Sun., Aug. 22, 2010.

A 25-foot boat crew from Coast Guard Station Provincetown is removing all 20 people from the cruise ship Viking Princess and taking them back to the station. Once at the station, further transportation will be arranged for the passengers.

The Viking Princess called the station around 9 p.m., for assistance after they became disabled about half a mile from Provincetown and feared the boat's anchor would not hold them in place.

There are no reports of injury or pollution.

The cause of the incident is unknown at this time.
